Garden Margarita

Let’s see if we can make a Margarita from the garden 🍅🍃

Y’all know how much I love trying to incorporate fresh and savory ingredients into a cocktail. Together with my friends at @lalospirits, I was able to make make a margarita using some fresh ingredients from the garden. This recipe is perfect with LALO Tequila Blanco because it highlights its bright/vegetal notes and gets some savory/sweet/sour umami notes from the tomato. This is further enhanced by the vegetal notes from the basil and chile liqueur and a little kick from fresh cracked black pepper. This is the perfect margarita for the Spring/Summer and you need to try it out.

Cheers y’all.

Orange Cocoa espresso martini

#ad21+ Don’t make a regular Espresso Martini, make this instead…

Together with my friends at @luxardousa, we’re going to #ElevateWithEspresso by making one of my favorite twists on a Espresso Martini using Luxardo’s Espresso Liqueur. Today I’m using a local Rhum Agricole as my base spirit since the tropical flavor profiles pair so well with this espresso liqueur which contains notes of sweet vanilla and chocolate. Luxardo Espresso liqueur features a thirty-day infusion of coffees from Brazil, Columbia, and Kenya. Pair all this with some orange notes, enhanced with saline and you’ve got yourself one of the best espresso martinis you’ve ever had.

Cheers y’all.

Frozen Mango Margarita

FRZN 🥭 SZN.

#ad21+ Together with my friends at @tresagaves, I'm simplifying the way you make frozen margaritas. I figured we'd make something spicy and fruity, and everyone knows how well mangoes and chamoy go together so here we are. I'm simplifying this process by using #TresAgaves Jalapeño Margarita Mix since it already has the lime and agave you'd typically put in a margarita anyway. Combined with Melinda's Habanero + Mango hot sauce, it'll just give it that extra fruity kick. We'll also be using their Blanco, which should contribute to the fruity and bright notes in this cocktail to bring it all together.

I have a feeling you'll be making a batch of these in a blender, so feel free to scale up the recipe as needed.

Cheers y'all!

Strawberry Clover Club

When life gives you strawberries, make a drink 🍓

I love the Clover Club by the legendary Julie Reiner. I also love using it as a template for fruit forward cocktails. In this case, we recently went strawberry picking over at Legare Farms here in Charleston, SC. You really can't beat vine ripened strawberries, they're incredibly sweet and packed with vitamin C. After making an easy strawberry syrup, I figured the Clover Club would be the perfect template for this cocktail. Egg whites are optional obviously but highly recommended for that frothy, silky texture.

Cheers y'all.

Jaffa Kick

Have you ever had a Jaffa Cake?

It’s no secret that orange and chocolate go really well together so when I saw this recipe in @nicholas.hamilton’s newly released book, “Sipsy Doozy.” I knew I had to try it. Just happened to be great timing with it being #WorldCocktailDay and all. I’m happy to report that it’s as delicious as it sounds. Huge congrats to Nick for his new book, you can grab it over on his page/bio!

Cheers y’all.

Excerpt from the book and origin story of the cocktail:
“This spicy chocolate orange in liquid form tickles the throat as it soothes the tongue with cocoa-coated citrus. This concoction was invented by my followers and me on a TikTok livestream, a result of brainstorming drink ideas with the viewers in the comments. Once the drink was made, a clever commenter said it must taste like a Jaffa Cake, a popular orange-chocolate biscuit (cookie) from England.

Deciding that that name didnt fully encapsulate the spiciness and savoriness of the cocktail, it was renamed the Jaffa Kick.”

Fresa Congelada

#ad21+ Frozen strawberry + jalapeno margaritas should be on the menu this #CincoDeMayo

Together wi
th my friends at @tequilamicampo, I recreated one of my favorite drinks I had a few weeks ago but added a little kick to it. For this frozen margarita, mix everything up and add a few dashes of jalapeño hot sauce and you’ve got something magical. Tequila Mi Campo Blanco adds a layer of citrus and rich tropical notes derived from resting in French oak barrels to this already incredible cocktail that you should definitely make for Cinco de Mayo.

Check out the link in the bio to find a bottle for yourself!

Cheers y’all

Batanga Margarita

What happens when you cross a margarita and a Batanga? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had this crazy idea to merge these two iconic Mexican cocktails without really knowing if it it'll work or not. In theory, the elements in a cola syrup wouldn't be too far off from an amaro. We've made the Jagerita before (yes, it's a Jagermeister as a base spirit in a margarita) - and I actually kinda enjoyed it. I'm writing all this before I even do any R&D on this cocktail but I have a feeling like it'll all work out. Unless I'm wrong.

Future Miguel: "Hey guys, this is pretty good, you need to try it out"

20th Century Whiskey Sour

Lemon and chocolate don’t belong together… or do they?

I’ve made a 20th Century cocktail in the past and thought there was no way it would work. Lemon and chocolate don’t traditionally go together but for some reason, in that cocktail, it just works. While I think the original version was ok (made with gin), bourbon is a much better fit for this cocktail.

What do you think, would you try this?

Cheers y’all.

Ultra Negroni

Who doesn’t love adding a bit more locality to their cocktail ingredients? I’m excited to finally announce a new series with my friends at @herradurateq! In this series I’ll be showcasing some of Charleston’s finest mixologists to create recipes featuring Herradura Ultra Añejo and utilizing ingredients local and unique to the Lowcountry. First up is my friend, and huge agave spirit advocate: Morgan Hurley (@mixpoursurf) who used a local ingredient found in his own backyard.

“My inspiration for the cocktail comes from the Tequila itself. The Herradura Ultra Anejo is incredibly smooth with a touch of sweetness from the Agave. Bringing in Dry Vermouth and French Gentian Liqueur added some herbal elements as well as some floral notes to the cocktail. Tying it all in was the orange bitters and Corazon bitters adding a layer of depth and spice. Bringing in a touch of Agave Nectar infused with Pecans from my backyard brought the Agave notes back to the front of the cocktail and complemented the toasted oak from the barrel aging.

Fuerza

A smokey, coffee-forward tequila cocktail… say less.

The recipe was created by my dude Dalton Bedard (@intent_to_imbibe) at @eattheordinary here in Charleston, SC. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Dalton placed in the Top 5 US Bartenders for @worldclassus in 2024. But good news y’all, he’s back at in 2025 as a finalist for the East Coast and we’re all pulling for him to take it all home this year.

Spicy Pickle Margarita

Jumping on the pickle margarita bandwagon… c’mon in, we’ve got room 🥒

Yeah I know it’s been done but had to try it for myself. In theory it works right? You put a salt (brine) and lime (acid) in your margaritas right? So why not add pickle juice which adds those elements as well. I used a spicy pickle brine here and it was incredible. Note that I used the new @lalospirits high proof here, a whopping 2oz of it, but the spec below made for a well balanced, spicy, sour margarita that you’ll love… unless you hate pickles that is, in which case, we can’t be friends anymore.

Cheers y’all.

Tequila Moonrise

Yeah, yeah, you’ve probably heard of a Tequila Sunrise, but what about a Tequila MOONRISE?

Next up on our locally-inspired series with @herradurateq is the wonderful Nikki Fairman (@nikkifairman) with her take on a sunrise. Bonus points: the cocktail looks like the SC state flag 👏🏾

“This drink is inspired by all the beautiful twilight we enjoy in Charleston. What could be better than watching the moonrise from one of our beautiful beaches? The exquisite richness and underlining notes of vanilla in the Herradura Ultra are complemented by the round floral tartness of the Edisto Red Limes, add the gentle violet perfume and you’ve got a cocktail that drinks like a memory.”

Winter in Jalisco

If you’re not making a bramble this season, what are you even doing?

Together with my friends at @tresgeneracionestequila I’ve created the perfect cocktail recipe for your friends family and loved ones this holiday season featuring a special tequila that celebrates family legacy and 100 years of tequila-making. This recipe calls for Tres Generaciones Reposado which uses 100% blue agave that is triple-distilled then rested in oak for at least 4 months. The light oak character plays so well with the rosemary in this recipe and it’s the perfect drink to elevate your next get together.

Hosting pro tip: Batch all the ingredients together (except the creme de cassis + garnishes) using the parts below. Pour over crushed ice then top with creme de cassis and set up a holiday garnish bar for your guests to garnish their own.

Cheers y’all!

Renewed Revival

Your holiday party cocktail just arrived… recipe below.

Today I’m working with my friends at @thelostexplorer to make a seasonal margarita riff. They make some incredible agave-based spirits and also have a commitment to sustainability which inspired this spiced pineapple syrup I used for this cocktail. This syrup uses every part of the pineapple along with some fall spices and is essential in this recipe and figured it would be a great fit with the brightness of the tequila and the smokiness of the mezcal rinse.

Give this one a try, cheers y’all!

Saltamontes Espresso Martini

What do you get when you cross a Grasshopper with an Espresso Martini?

Let me show you an interesting one I’ve been making lately with my friends at @canteranegratequila. This recipe is a cross between a grasshopper and an espresso martini. Since we’ll be using #CanteraNegraCafe, we’ll already have those notes of cocoa and rich coffee in this liqueur. Both flavors should play perfectly with the fresh mint and Fernet Mente in this recipe #ad

For the base spirit today, we’ll be using Cantera Negra’s own Reposado, an additive free tequila that’s just as good a sipper as it is in this cocktail. Next time you’re at the store, you may as well go home with both bottles as they are a match made in heaven 😉
It’s a great recipe to bust out during your next get-together, let me know what you think!

Cheers y’all.

Dill & Chill

While we had some downtime at Sony Camera Camp, me and a couple other food creators just hung out at the pool bar and I figured I'd get behind the bar and make a drink. The dill stole the show here, they just happened to be growing some fresh in the herb garden at @konakai last month and figured I'd put it to good use along with some of the other in
